Mercedes f700 – A luxurious energy friendly car
For now we can only hope and dream for cars that will offer power, luxury and a supreme drive experience while being friendly to the environment. The F700 concept from Mercedes has brought the future nearer and left many of us anticipating eagerly for the day the first drives out of the production line.
Power by the forward-pointing DIESOTTO drive system, a first from Mercedes, the F700 can reach the same performance levels of the current 3.5 liter petrol engine – through its two stage four cylinder engine. The DIESOTTO drive system in the F 700 has a displacement of 1.8 liters, emitting 127 grams of CO2 per kilometer while consuming 5.3 liters of petrol per 100 kilometers, better than any luxury car or any vehicle in its class. The F 700 features controlled auto ignition (CAI), combining the high power of the of the spark-ignition engine, turbo charging and direct fuel injection. “Our goal is to make the gasoline-powered car just as economical in consumption as the diesel. The new DIESOTTO concept is a major step in that direction, combining the best properties of the spark-ignition engine and the diesel engine,” says Dr. Thomas Weber, Board member of DaimlerChrysler AG responsible for Group Research & Mercedes Car Group Development.
The F 700 also features PRE-SCAN suspension technology,
setting it apart from anything that we know of. With two laser scanners the road surface in front of the car is scanned, and the hydraulic controlled active suspension preventively compensates for detected obstacles, providing a “floating drive”. Inside the F 700 is as innovative, with the REVERSE seat offer a different seating arrangement, the options being to face or to have your back to the travel direction, offering comfortability, spaciousness and unsurpassed comfort. That is no all; the F 700 has the SERVO-HMI operating concept. The controls of the display have been reduced; the menu is made simple and self-explanatory. It also allows the driver to discuss more complex instructions in dialogue with the avatar, a virtual operating assistant.
The F 700 is unlike anything that we have experienced, offering class, supreme drive quality with advanced energy saving technologies. The only question is when can we start ordering?
